Quinn felt her eyes widen as she listened to Alex talk, “I-it’s fine. You don’t sound pathetic at all.” She sat up without thinking. “That’s exactly how I feel. More often than I’d like to admit to be honest.” Quinn looked at him, a bit surprised that she wasn’t the only one who felt like she did.

Alex smiled when she said she felt that same “I..I never told anyone that before…not even Artie” Alex moved a little closer to Quinn. “Sometimes I stare at my ceiling and just pretend I’m someone else, like I’m not Alex Hanson but I’m….Liam Tyler or something like that and I don’t have any problems and I am happy and have friends who care about me and people who love me…but them I blink and the dream comes crashing down and I am back to being Alex, problems galore , no real friends, and desperately lonely…..” Alex sighed and stared at the ground, “I don’t know why I am telling you all this…I just…I feel like I can trust you with anything”

Quinn nodded understandingly, even though she knew Alex wasn’t looking at her. She set a hand on his leg, trying to be comforting, “Well, you can trust me… With anything you’d like.” She gave a small smile, “Last year, when I was… with child… I did the same thing. Well I still do, just in a bit of a different way though. Instead of thinking of being a Cheerio again, I just think of having people who care and love me..”

Alex smiled at Quinn trying to convince himself that the little shot of electricity he felt from her touch was just his imagination. “I..I care about you” He said sweetly. If you asked him later Alex still wouldn’t understand what possesed him to do what he did next but he did it. Alex leaned forward and crashed his lips to Quinns kissing her not to deep but not very lightly either. Alex suddenly pulled back and stood up scrambling away from Quinn “I I am soo sorry I..I don’t know why I did that I just…It felt right and …I don’t know” Alex looked at the ground “I’m sorry” Alex whispered. Alex was sure that he just wasn’t used to letting people in and having them understand and that THAT was why he kissed her…but truthfully he really wasn’t THAT sure.

Quinn held back a smile when she heard Alex say he cared about her. When she suddenly felt his lips on hers, Quinn had to stop herself from jumping from being surprised. However when he pulled away, she pushed away the small feeling of wanting him to do it again. “I-it’s fine…” Before Quinn could stop herself she accidently said, “I-I didn’t mind it.” She knew what she had said was the truth, but hadn’t planned on sharing it right then.
